Why have Green Elk Rapids Days?

It's all about the environment. We need to take time to think about why being green matters, individually and collectively. Everyone can contribute in their own way, no matter how big or small. From taking your own recycling bag to the store, to "greening" your house with solar panels, it all helps. Take some time to think about what why being green is important to you.

Here are the Green Elk Rapids Days objectives: attention on environmental issues
Inspiring...greater participation in "green" practices
Creating...occasions for family fun and creative thinking
Showcasing...our Village's progressive environmental activities
Enhancing...our Village reputation as a "green" community
Welcoming...friends, family and visitors to the village for fun and activity

Please leave a comment and tell us what you do to be green, and why being green is important to you.

  1. As an independent filmmaker it's important to try and keep things at work as green as possible. That mostly consists of little things like reusing or recycling pieces of our set and wardrobe, carpooling crew, using biodegradable plates and utensils, supplying crew members with stainless steel water bottles instead of the cheap plastic ones and purchasing organic snacks whenever possible. Many of these choices also end up saving money for the production in the long run, so it can be important in all sorts of ways!

  2. Being green is a process of continual learning in response to our environment and it is important for each of us to contribute in positive ways. Recycling on a daily basis creates thoughtfulness and reusing materials takes creativity and imagination. Collectively we all share our world and the responsibility for preserving it.

Congrats to Elk Rapids for focusing effort and energy on being green!
